Playing and teaching
Old Time Fiddle
I started playing the fiddle in my middle age, so I know that if you are really dedicated, you can learn, too.
I had a musical background, singing, taking piano lessons, singing in choirs, and playing folk music during the "folk scare" of my college days. I think that was all just a prelude to my discovery of old time music. Since my whole family was learning to play, it just became our way of life. This has led to years of enjoyment of the simple music of yesteryear - playing with family & friends, attending festivals, teaching young and old, running a traditional music shop (Celestial Mountain Music), writing books on fiddling, and performing locally and abroad. We even moved to our home in the mountains of North Carolina to be "in the middle of the music."
